While many people enjoy shakes because of their taste, some are not aware of the detoxification and cleansing benefits that they possess. When made with ingredients such as fruit, yoghurt and honey, shakes are an important part of a healthy diet.

Shakes are not only a source of dietary protein, but also provide the body with essential nutrients to fulfill its energy needs (in an easy-to-consume manner). Nutritional cleansing shouldn’t taste this good!

If you love shakes and want to detoxify your body with key nutrients, then follow these delicious healthy shake recipes below:


Creamy Green Shake

Green Smoothie for Nutritional CleansingThe coconut milk and yogurt used in this recipe provides a creamy texture to the shake, and essential fats and proteins to help blood sugar levels. The papaya releases digestive enzymes and antioxidants.

The following recipe makes enough for a few people – perfect for a hot summer’s day!

  • 1/5 cup of frozen papaya
  • 1 handful of ice
  • 1 combined handful of spinach, parsley and mint leaves
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • Raw honey to glaze on top



To make simply blend these ingredients together, glaze honey over the top and enjoy!


Blueberry and Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie

Blueberry SmoothieEnjoy the mouth-watering taste of a vanilla and blueberry smoothie while benefiting from essential vitamins and nutrients.

The recipe below makes enough for 3-4 people.

  • 1 cup of skim or soy milk
  • 170 grams of vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil



  1. Take all the ingredients except for the flaxseed oil and place them in a blender
  2. Blend for 1-2 minutes and then pour the mixture into a glass
  3. Mix the flaxseed oil into the drink and enjoy!

Per serving, this delicious and healthy shake has a nutritional value of 443 calories, 4 grams fibre, 63 grams carbohydrate and 18 grams protein.
